Retirement sometimes bring a strange mix of morning emotions. When I worked I woke at 4:45 every day with energy and a “can’t wait” approach to the day. I had long days, many challenges, and “work” friends I valued.
Now, after 13 years of retirement, I awake and still wait for the “moment” of daily inspiration. It is not that I haven’t had a busy and full life these past years, but I think back to my work years with rosy glasses. I have had challenges, moving twice, once across the country, and endured some health issues related to arthritis.
To make sure I stay alert and involved in my life, I try to continue to subscribe and read professional journals. I apply my skills in doing some professional reviews. I took up quilting. Who knew? It is a challenging process to complete a quilt. I made one for my doggy grandchild. I am now working on one for my older grandchild. I went back to paint-by-number pictures for the first time since high school.
Still…sometimes I wake up with little excitement for the day and make a list of things to do, something I always did when working. The items are home, health, and hobby related.
