Preparing for surgery, even outpatient office procedures, can be stressful, to the point of not talking or sleeping, and moodiness. Today’s procedure was painful to watch, and the aftermath has been miserable for my spouse. Details aren’t really relevant but it was one of those “private” parts. The information sheet was vague but acknowledged “some discomfort.” So many medical interventions are now done as office procedures. This was a pre-treatment for future scheduled radiation treatments to protect surrounding organs. There was significant pain and bleeding with two attending physicians and a LPN. This should have been done with light anesthesia in an outpatient medical facility. So much has changed and too many corners cut in medical treatment, to save money and recovery time. I thought this would not be a worrisome procedure, but now I think both of our anxieties were well founded. Medical treatments are now vaguely explained and there seems to be less pain management. I had a similar experience two years ago that had me screaming during the procedure.
