Routine Testing

While this is an unusual topic maybe, as one ages, some of you may be able to relate. Access to medical care is a significant component of all of our lives if we have aspirations to live to be older. As we accumulate medical screenings, routinely recommended, the appointments pile up. And, as we leave the appointment checkout process, the receptionist hands us a card for the next checkup appointment, be it 3, 6, or 12 months. I now have a five year calendar so I can record and track these appointments be it treatment or checkups. In my 40s, it was a mammogram and a gynecologist appointment, annually or when I remembered to schedule either. Now, doctors’ appointments are basic social engagements and fill my calendar like a new dating relationship.
