With a saddened yet not time distant response, I feel this period of turmoil IS WORSE than the 60s. Rioting is not uncommon in American history. Storming the US Capitol and attempting to destroy the seat of government has not happened since the War of 1812 when the British burned the Capitol.
The country’s emotional damage is exacerbated by the fact that the President of the United States supported and incited the rioters. It is not so much that Trump’s rhetoric is a shock. Still, the impact of his words on a pathetically vulnerable set of Americans and the goal of his incendiary language was to incite violence, resulting in the end of a Constitutionally required certification of the vote of the Electoral College.

If you can, take some time to view the media and read the commentary. It is both disturbing, and the pictures feel like a visual lightning bolt! The stories are hard to read in this period of shock, upon shock!
